Background
Nonsuch Island serves as a nature reserve in the St. George's parish of Bermuda. The island is a wildlife sanctuary, mostly wooded with a small saltwater marsh. The island once housed a juvenile detention facility. The boys detained on the island carved out tunnels in the island rock. Since that time the island has been restored to a 'Living museum of pre-colonial Bermuda.' Bermudian conservationist David Wingate was responsible for the restoration of the island as well as saving nearly extinct species, the Cahow an endemic nocturnal seabird. The following page is a gallery of the photos that were taken during our tour of Nonsuch Island.
